How To Choosing Your Type of Car Insurance

Making sure that you get the correct and most affordable insurance can be very important. There are numerous factors to weigh up when seeking quotes and knowing just what you are looking for can help you immensely when you first start searching for a great deal.

If you are a young driver you will find that insurance quotes will be very expensive as you won't have a no-claims bonus. You will also find insurance to be more expensive than expected if your car is in anyway upgraded or modified or is a special edition meaning it has a more powerful engine.

First of all it is important to understand what types of car insurance there are. The most basic form of car insurance is 'Third Party.' Due to its low cost you can expect that many options are missing from the larger and more expensive insurance packages. Third party only covers others peoples property that you do damage to, not your own. It also only covers others people's medical expenses that are involved in an accident that you cause. This is the cheapest option but as you see it does not cover expenses for yourself, so you could well end up being largely out of pocket for a new car or even your own medical expenses.

The next option is 'Third Party, fire and theft;' this is an extended version of the 'Third Party' insurance package. The main difference between the two is that your car would now be covered should it be damaged by fire, attempted theft or full blown vehicle theft. This gives you quite a bit more cover but still means you will have to cover expenses to replace your car or have it repaired should it be involved in a motoring accident.

The most expensive but most popular car insurance type is 'Comprehensive' and is also known as 'fully comprehensive'. Having this type of insurance can give you full peace of mind when driving should you be involved in an accident whether it is your own fault or not. As mentioned, your expenses will mostly be met should anything happen to your car and it will often include many added extras. Extra insurance options such as windscreen and window repairs and courtesy cars are included in many comprehensive packages.

One thing to note is that unless otherwise stated within insurance a package is that you will still need to sign up for breakdown cover, some fully comprehensive deals can include this but will vary from company to company.
